Marty Dew
Marty was born in Conway, SC. As a kid, my mother put me in all sorts of sports and hobbies. Needless to say, the one day came when she asked him to take a dance class. Not knowing that it would one day become his outlet for expression, passion, and at the age of 16, his career. He started at the age of 10 studying all forms of dance (jazz, tap, ballet, modern). At the age of 15, his dance teacher wanted him to audition for a live theatre show soley for experience and to prepare him for when he stepped into the "real world" of dance. This audition would change the course of his life, one day forcing him to choose dance over baseball (his first love). They offered Marty a job on the spot, and after talking it over with his parents, he decided to take the offer. A year later he moved to Tennessee to begin working. For two years, he did the show working, gaining experience on the stage, home-schooling the 11th and 12th grade, and saving money for a "greater goal". Back when he was 14, he had flown out to LA to fulfill a scholarship at the Tremaine Dance Studio for a month. It was that month in LA where his dreams were born. Even though he was young, he knew he wanted to work hard, save money, and eventually move there when he was ready.
After Tennessee, he took a job on a cruise ship... the Celebrity Mercury. For him, this job was great. He was 18 with his eyes wide open to the world. He got to dance, travel the world, and get paid for it all at the same time... still with his "greater goal" in mind. After 9 months on the ship, he returned home to SC to be back with his family. Two months later, his parents and himself mutually decided this was the time to go. So with his clothes in the back seat, his best friend next to him, and dreams waiting... he drove cross-country to Los Angeles. He had wind in his sails and nothing could stop him.
Marty’s lived in LA for a few years now, and feels very fortunate to even say that. He’s learned that this is one of the hardest professions to call your own. He’s done commercials, movies, tours, music videos, live shows, and even some acting in the process. To Marty, nothing is better than performing in front of a live audience. Some people make it... a lot of people don't. In his mind, he would never know unless he tried. Music is very essential in our world. It creates so many things from emotions and stories to just making you want to bop your head up and down. It is universally understood and he’s glad to be a part of it.
In the past couple of years, he’s found an outlet that is both helpful, entertaining, and inspirational. That outlet is teaching. He grew up taking classes on conventions and now has crossed over to the other side of the microphone. Just as he’s been inspired, he strives to do the same. Teaching allows him to pass the knowledge he learned, and expand on that knowledge. He also learns from his peers. It's not about who does the step the best, but who makes you believe them. A mentor of his by the name of Tommy Walsh, once said "if you make a mistake, do it with conviction". Marty thinks we can apply that with anything we do. Conviction is what makes us believe, and ultimately, what personifies us.
Believe in yourself and others will follow.

The Beat Freaks
The most basic description of the Beat Freaks would not do justice to what they stand for. They are more than just an all-female, all-styles dream team dance crew. They are inspirations and role models. With their intricate choreography, they mesmerize audiences, but it’s also the message behind their dance that leaves people wanting more. Their Freak the Dream mantra has inspired legions of fans to set out and turn their own dreams into reality. It is no question that each woman in the crew is a talented performer, as they’ve each worked with a number of A-List entertainers. But what makes the Beat Freaks unique is their ability to work together seamlessly while combining several very different styles and personalities. Their passion is to perform, their aim is to inspire, and their goal is to Freak the Dream.
Fanny As a dance crew, Fanny Pak got its name because all of its four-girl and three-guy members were born in the 80s, an era which they described as "an unapologetic, take-chances, and take-risks era," something that they also embody as a performing group. The Los Angeles, California-based group sports colorful costumes reminiscent of the fashion explosion that is the 80s.
Fanny Pak
Fanny Pak is one of the dance crews competing in Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew, featuring street dance crews in the country. Hosted by Mario Lopez, America's Best Dance Crew is produced by American Idol judge and record producer Randy Jackson. The show boasts of a panel of topnotch judges, including hip-hop choreographer and street dance authority Shane Sparks, superstar MC Lil Mama, and singer, song-writer, and record producer, JC Chasez of the disbanded boy group NSYNC.
Before they began their live casting performance, a Fanny Pak member said she was dedicating the performances it to her dead grandmother, the first person she called when they made it. The routine was vintage 90s, with very crisp movements to trance and electro-music. The retro-team, according to the judges came to America's Best Dance Crew to change the game as they are totally different. Moreover, they didn't follow the trend and are very detail-oriented.
